One of the best shows on television

The Good Wife airs on CBS every Tuesday night at 9PM CST and I would highly recommend you tune in! Joey and I have been watching since it premiered last year and after every episode I think to my self, “What a good, smart show.”

It also helps that it takes place in Chicago - so being a hop, skip and jump away, much of the conversation about the City and its political history is familiar.

The show stars Julianna Margulies who made her television debut on E.R. (one of my long-time favorite shows) as well as Chris North, aka BIG from Sex in the City and hottie Matt Matt Czuchry who had a long standing role as Rory’s boyfriend on Gilmore Girls.

Basic premise: The show follows the life of a wife and mother who boldly assumes full responsibility for her family and re-enters the workforce after her husband's very public sex and political corruption scandal lands him in jail. Pushing aside the betrayal and public humiliation caused by her husband, she starts over by pursuing her original career as a defense attorney.

Watch it - you'll love it.

Two Weeks Later

Can you believe it? Two solid week and not one tiny chip.
I'm a believer in the "no-chip" mani!

Seven Valentine’s Days

That is how long Joey and I have been together – for seven Valentine’s Days. And this will be our last Valentine’s Day as an unmarried couple.

Then we have to start over – which is good for Joey because he typically gives me a rose for every Valentine’s Day we have spent together and the holiday flower inflation was starting to break the bank.

Also – as we will be combining incomes in a few months – I suggested he pick up some tulips at the grocery store rather than spend a fortune at a florist. Funny how that happens!

(P.S. A few more Valentine’s Day mentions and this post could become a drinking game.)

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope you are all enjoying speading the love today!
Isn't Google the cutest!! Love this!

I’m obsessed with…..

My black cashmere wrap sweater. I love love love love this sweater. I could wear it everyday. I had wanted a cashmere sweater for a while but just couldn’t let myself to spend the cash. However, I finally made the investment and am so happy I did. The sweater is classic, a wardrobe staple and something I can wear for years to come.

I have always been a bargain hunter but the saying is sometimes true – you get what you pay for.

Movin and Shakin

This past weekend, I went to Chicago to meet up with my long lost college friends. We had a great time catching up and I have to say I am very proud of my friends and their careers. Just to name a few, here are a few of the major company’s they represent and careers they hold: Starcom (a leading media communications agency) Target Corp., a first grade teacher, Google, Weber Shandwick (a leading PR firm), and the Chicago Tribune. Well done friends!

I guess all those nights spent studying in the library must have paid off. And all those nights out at the bars must have paid off, as well…because now as young professionals, they know how to work hard and play hard.

And play hard we did – I think I ruined two pairs of shoes while in Chicago- mostly because of the mountains of show – a not so distant reminder of Snowmageddon 2011.

However, what I think I love most about my fantastic college friends is that we could go years without seeing each other, but when we do, its like we just saw each other yesterday – nothing changes – except for the occasional new significant other, disposable income and the amount of drinks we can have in a night without being heinously hung-over the next day.

Test Run

I love a good manicure. I don’t love when my nail polish chips off before I make it home. So – since we were in the middle of Snowmageddon and I was able to work from home, I treated myself and had time for a manicure after work. Please note – I walked to get a mani because the City of Milwaukee was under a Civil Danger Alert.

Anyhow – I had been hearing all of these things about the “no-chip manicure” which sounded awesome to me – great nails for a minimum of two weeks – love it.

So I got one. A little bit more expensive but I had gloves on 5 minutes after walking out the door. A “regular mani” no-no. And they look great today.

So – I am going to see how great this new phenomenon is. I will report back the details in two weeks.

It has been a long time...

The last few months have been busy – so busy that I completely forgot I had a blog.

In brief – I changed jobs, went to a wedding, traveled for 2 holidays, adjusted to a new job. Well – it may seem like not a lot but it has been a whirlwind.

Life is really good right now. We just got back from a family vacation, the Packers are going to the Superbowl (I only say this because the mood of WI is far better than when the Pack lets them down), its award season and I am back in wedding planning mode.

That being said – I have tons of posts in my head that will likely be making their way here.

First, I am going to quickly cover award season. I love the red carpet. I usually only watch the red carpet. I love seeing the gown, the jewels and glamour. So far, we have only passed the Golden Globes and the SAG awards but the stars definitely came out for the Globes.

Below are my top three favorite looks thus far. The SAG awards were pretty lame. Up next are the Acadamy Awards and the Grammys!

Golden Globes

Eva – I love ever
ything about this look. Hair and makeup are flawless (I added Ms. Longoria to my wedding binder for potential wedding looks). The Zac Posen dress is stunning and flattering – the backless design and the perfect fit is just beyond elegant. She rocked this look, as usual.

Angelina – Although I am true to Team Jen, Angie looked exquisite in her Versace gown. Her glimmering dress had me screaming “Emerald City Here I Come” and her simple statement jewelry and makeup were just right.

Lea Michele – What I love most about this “gleeful” look is the contrast between the pink Oscar de la Renta and the aqua ring. She’s young, youthful and made this dress look amazing. Well done!
